Today’s Special At Jiyugaoka

One of my favourite shops in Jiyugaoka, (which is a great neighbourhood you should totally visit) is called Today’s Special. It has three floors, the first selling all kinds of beautiful kitchen goods, the second catering for bathroom and clothing needs, and the third, a nice cafe!

After ambling through the store and picking up a few unnecessary but beautiful things, my mother and I decided to have lunch in the cafe. We were with Thomas, a British friend who had been moved to Tokyo for three months, and Sherlyn, my friend from Singapore who was doing a solo trip through Japan.

What I really liked about the cafe was that it was really airy and spacious, with lots of light coming through.

Selection of food was not huge. My mom and friends went for the Assorted Harvest Plate while I went for the Grilled Bigeye Tuna.

My tun was yums!

Everything tastes better when served with piping hot rice.

This was my full set below. It comes with a salad and miso soup.

The harvest plate was a combination of local veggies.

The four of us! It’s strange, if I think of the low likelihood of the four of us taking a picture again in the future as everyone lives in a different country…

This is Sherlyn. She’s kind of crazy, but really fun and nice. She’s also fun to mess with.

My mum and I 🙂

Overall, really nice, delicious, healthy food, and I’m definitely going back!
